Peer Support Training

Born to Carry trainer : Laurna Hislop

"I attended a Peer Supporter course in Elgin run by Laurna. It was a really great jam-packed day, she's a hive of knowledge and experience and was easy to learn from. Looking forward to putting it all into practice with Moray Sling Library. Thank you Laurna!"

AIM OF THE COURSE:

To enable you to have the knowledge and confidence to help others to carry safely and happily. To recognise and promote safe carrying while being inclusive and supportive. To encourage and enable others to carry and enjoy their carrying journey. Being able to recognise when and how to refer to a consultant.

This full day course will qualify you as a Born To Carry Peer Supporter for Babywearing. It costs £85 - although there will be a discount available for any library volunteers. A £30 non-refundable deposit will be taken at the time of booking, with the remainder due 1 weeks before the course date.

The Born to Carry peer support course offers a day of varied learning about safety, slings, carriers, supporting and empowering parents. Each course is tailored to the group and if there is something you are especially keen to have covered during the day you will be able to let me know when booking.

Dolls: All practising during the course is done with demo dolls. A small number of weighted dolls is provided during the course. Babies in arms and toddlers: Babies in arms are welcome to attend the course. Please be advised that we ask that the other participants do not experience a disruption to their learning.
